I have a 1988 f150 with a 5.0 at this time the truck runs OK, but when you increase throttle the engine sounds like it is sucking to much air through the input for the air cleaner. When driving the truck the engine bogges down when you push the accelarator to the floor, but when you let up off the accelarator it will go a little quicker. I thinking there is something wrong with the fuel air mixture. Any thoughts would be helpful. andrew143
Start with the basics. Plugs/wires/distributor cap, rotor, air filter and O2 sensor (basic tune up). Even if it was done 6 mos ago (unless replaced in attempt to fix the current problem).
When replacing plugs note how they look as you pull them. If they appear as though it was running rich, suspect the fuel pressure regulator. If one or two look different than the others suspect a vacuum leak, plug wires or cracked distributor cap. Check compression to get an idea of the health of the motor.
