Great article RDBaron03. Since the rumor is that a new 6.4L PSD will be out in 07 and the article says that the engine can be in themarket in 3 to 4 years, then maybe it is the new 6.4. It has so much more electronic, I wonder if the reliabilty is better than current diesels?
to answer your question about the reliability of the new international engine I belive it will be very reliable if the get the computer set up right. plus you won't have to worry about a mechanic messing up your valve tune up because there won't be anything to tune. On the cat subjet I dont belive cat will develop a 1 ton engine, the smallest truck engine that cat offers is a C-7 acert engine which is a 7.2L I-6 which is avalable in the 750's I don't think they want to get into anything smaller. but I wish they would
Cat engines are not heavier than a international engines . they just don't build a engine small enough to go in a superduty. International does build heavier engines such as the dt 466 and the dt 530 which weighs around 1500 lbs dry and comparable to a c-9 cat which also weighs about 1500 lbs both put out around 250-400hp and 900-1200tq.
international does not however produce engines for a class 8 truck
That picture of the 05 grille looks similar to the ones on the new 250 harley editions.Saw one at the lot last week and it had a sqaured grill.BTW,that Harley was BADA$$!
I was sent an article last week, that I unfortunately lost that said Ford and International were going their seperate ways in 2006. They are blaming each other for the problems with the 6.0 Diesel that Ford released this year. I was curious if anyone else has heard this, and if so what the heck is Ford going to do about it's Diesel?
Yes, i read this as well somewhere although i cannt remember where either.. could it have been in four wheeler magazine?
I heard that ford had cancled the v-6 diesel for the f-150 through international due to the issues with th 6.0L, but are still considering other companies offers for the v-6 diesel for the f-150. interesting I think this was only about the smaller f150 diesel and did not effect the powerstroke?
I heard from a friend, who's mother works for Ford, that ford temporarily gave up on the diesel in the f150 because the motor was tearing up transmissions. Too much torque, apparently.
