I was wondering how I might be able to increase my truck's towing capacity. My 2000 F150 engine is stock, I have 3.55 gears, and a manual transmission. I would like to tow a "Toy Hauler" style trailer, if you guys think it can be done please let me know.
Depends on how heavy, according to the specs (upper right hand corner under parts shop) it lists that we can only tow 3300 lbs. I am going through the same problem with hauling a 1961 pickup from LA. I think I have to rent a u-haul or something. I think with an auto you can go iup to 5500.
I've been towing a 3000 lb. trailer with my 5 speed (manual) f-150 for about 9 months. No problems except an occasional slow down in 5th gear on hills. It tow great. Anyone towing heavier trailers?
Heres a load I hauled the other day, approx 1600lbs in the bed and 3200 on the trailer. Trailer is about 1000lbs empty. Pulled great, I would have loaded more on the trailer but I've got one tire on the trailer thats kind of sketchy.
