hard downshift
My 1996 Explorer has begun to downshift hard into first as I slow to a stop. Two years ago I had the torque converter rebuilt when it went out. Last year I had the transmission rebuilt because it was beginning to slip. Now about a year later, it has begun to shift hard when stopping. I replaced the transmission fluid and filter but that did not help. Any ideas where to go next?

Do you get any other symptoms like the OD off light flashing or any check engine lights? I had a '95 that started doing the same thing and it was caused by a fault in the EGR sensor making the computer go stupid and screwing with the tranny shift points.

No other symptoms. The check engine light comes on periodically but doesn't seem to coincide but the hard downshifting is constant. I have suspected the differential pressure sensor for the check engine light. I blew out the hoses and it seemed to help for awhile. Maybe I should replace it and see if the shifting gets better.
