Sounds like your engine is attached to your truck (not physically either). It's always hard after working together for so many years. Anyways, no suggestions, sorry.
After looking at your other post I see you have an auto trans, if you lift too much before you get these seperated it can bind on the converter. You need to have the engine balanced in your lift as much as possiable to do this.
I think there are 6 tranny bolts if I remember. You also have to un-bolt the torque convertor as well, that is 4 bolts. Once you pick the motor up past the studs on the motor pads, I'd use a big screwdriver and pry the tranny from the dowls. oh, make sure you have something supporting your tranny, or you will have a big suprise.
I know this is a stupid question but wouldn't it be easier for him to pull the trans along with motor? I'm not trying to be a smart ---, I really want to know.
It depends on how he is pulling it. If the front clip is off, it would be easier. if he is just pulling it out the hood, it'll be a pain b/c you'd have to drop the driveshafts and the tcase.
i got it out, i didnt have to remover anything else, i just pulled straight out of the hood. it was a pain in the butt but i got it eventually. the torque converter wanted to come with the flywheel eventually. while i was in the engine compartment hookin up the cherry picker, somethin happened in the trans and the truck started rollin backwards and luckily my dads truck was there to stop it after about 15 feet. otherwise i wouldve been on for the ride of my life. theres a big hill that kinda drops off after about 150 feet from my shop door. any of yall know what wouldve caused it to roll like that?
