FE specific trans question
i thought about and researched the NV4500 tranny option and its to much money. if i had the money it would be worth it but i dont have spare change to throw around like that.
i have a 3/4 ton 74 model short wheelbase that i am going to start working on soon, right now it has a 400 with an auto, i have 2 FE's but both of them came with c-6's so what i need to know is every peice and part i will need to put a 4-speed in this truck behind the FE that i build for it. i'm not sure which t-case i have but i need to know which one i will need. i also need to know exaclty what 4-speed i should look for as far as year and part number and what not. i dont want to buy "some" stuff and get ready to put it in and have to go buy "more" stuff, i want to be able to round up everything i need, clean/inspect it and put it all in at one time. the cab and front clip and bed will be off so that should make things easier i presume. any info and help is greatly appreciated. thanks guy.
*Edit* I notice this is posted twice - sometimes it takes time for people to make their way through the threads, or even to the board. Remeber, everyone else is building their own truck - the board is secondary. Anyway, give it time.
I'm surely forgetting something, but here is a ballpark:
-T-18 or NP435 to FE specific bellhousing
-T-18 or NP435 (4wd output)
-Clutch pedal and linkage (without a donor truck, this will be the difficult part)
-X-member? I forget if this is necessary - who knows for sure?
-You'll probably want an NP205 transfercase
-New driveshaft/have yours redone
