Okay, from what I've heard, one of the best aftermarket things you can ever give your truck is a spray on/in (whatever) bedliner. I recenly got myself a new truck and am considering to get one. So what I was wondering is which brand is the best, Line-X or Rhino. I've heard Rhino does a good job, but there isn't a dealer too close to me. As for Line-X, I have one locally and I hear they have a great turn-around time, but how is the quality? And one last thing, which one is cheaper? Please give me anything you can tell me.
They are both good liners. Rhino has more of a rubbery content than Line-x. With the Line-x it is easeir to slide things, stuff etc... into your bed, and to me it seems tougher. I have the Line-x in my bed and I love it, TOUGHER MEANS FORD!!!!
I recently had the Line-X sprayed in my ’97 F-150 and absolutely love it. My father-in-law has the Rhino in his ’97 F-150 and it hasn’t chipped or torn but the color has faded to a dull gray. I spoke with the owner of our shop in Fresno, CA and he explained that the Line-X is sprayed on at room temperature while the Rhino is a hot application. The problem with the hot application is that it takes hours for the coating to dry which can leave runs while the Line-X dries within 5 seconds. Because the Rhino is a hot application and because of the materials used in the mixture, when it is hot outside the liner get extremely hot. The Line-X was about $25 dollars cheaper and has a National lifetime warranty.
I have a rhino on my 03 150. It ran me $350, and was money well spent. With any spray in I was concerned about fading, so we'll have to see how it holds up. But, the traction on the Rhino is priceless. Before, when I put something in the bed, I would have to bungy it down so it wouldn't slide around (same problem with plastic liners). But now, I can toss anything back there and it ain't moving. The down side is if you actually want to slide something into the bed it is a bit more difficult.
The point about runs is accurate with the Rhino. I have a few runs on the vertical points, but you have to look for them. If you find a good dealer to do the install you should be fine.
I plan on putting a Pace-Edwards tonneau cover, so hopefully that will eliminate any sun-fade issues.
line-x and rhino liner are great products but if you are worried about cost you can get a kit from the eastwood company at eastwoodcompany.com. it comes with a spray gun and ten "tintable" liner all for about $150. to tint all you do is got get paint that matches your truck and mix it in with the liner liquid. i know a few people that have done it and they like it. but i also know a guy that had a rhinoliner and it faded from black or gray to green on him.
My 2001 f 150 s/crew came with the Rhino liner right from the dealer. I love it I have hauled loads of stone and lots of firewood. The rhino has a grippy surface so if you want stuff to slide it probably is not for you. Keep on truckin'
