Just got my pics put into the gallery...take a look. Tried to put them here but apparently only administrators and moderators have that privlege? Whatever! Thanks for looking.
Also for anyone with a lift....I'm looking at installing some rubber sheeting in the wheel wells to help keep snow, salt, grime from entering the engine compartment and so forth. Has anyone done this? I'd appreciate ideas. I planned on finding some 1/8" or so thick rubber (sheeting), cutting to mold into place and attaching with fasteners......

To post a pic from your gallery here:
-click where it says "Forum Codes" underneath the pic
-highlight and copy what is in the Full Size Image Box
-Paste that into the post.
Thanks DCSpecial...I edited the post with one from the gallery to go with the one you pasted for me, thanks! Knowledge is everything....
Orlie, it's a six inch lift.
Thanks for the kind comments.
SCHAAAAAA-WEEEET looking truck! What a beauty! Stop there; don't change or add a thing. Looks hardcore but classy/sharp as is. Don't go ape***** on too many aftermarket add-on's; cheapens the look, IMO.
Anyway, I was putting some thought into your 1/8" rubber matting in the wheel wells to protect road salt, etc spray into the engine compartment and adjacent areas. My initial/immediate thought was that: (1) rubber matting can tear, get holes, etc thus making nice little nests for cancerous road salts to fester undetected, etc; and (2) the fasteners in and of themselves create a hole for the salts to get between the rubber and and the inner fenders AND then ultimately the engine bay area.... and (3) wouldn't rubber heat & contract thus creating sag, bend or flex in the rubber matting, again creating areas of opportunity for road salts, etc to fester?
So now you're thinking, "ok, Mr. Smart Guy, then what else could I use", right? (admit it, you were thinking that!). How about thin stainless steel sheeting? Or aluminized (thin) metal sheeting either of which you could cut-to-fit and then treat with undercoating after install? And, lucky you... undercoating comes in both our's favorite color: BLACK!!! Yea, boy!!!
Well, just some feedback. Not that the rubber matting wouldn't work mind you, but something of a more solid material would make it virtually impenetrable for what you're trying to do, IMO.
DS59F100...thanks for the feedback, sheet metal never crossed my mind but I like the thought. If I go that route do you have suggestions for attaching?
Also, I agree, I plan on keeping it pretty much this way except for installing the fender flares (Xenon) that I already have. Eventually some of the typical performance upgrades but no rush, this thing hauls a** just the way it is! The kids age 9 and 12 would like to see a tv/dvd installed sometime, maybe....
Sinjin...it's just an XLT as far as I know....there are no sport references. Of course it doesn't matter, she's a "sport" now.

Beast,
Pop rivets or weld the sheets in, grind and smooth the the weld seams, THEN cover with an undercoating. Depends on your abilities and inclinations.
I'm a little uncertain of the exact area you're talking about that you want to fill in, can you re-describe?
Daryl... I have no welding tools or experience. I'll probably use rivets. The area I'm most interested in covering is basically the shock region. I guess the best I can describe without burning out a brain cell is: An triangle shape, about a foot wide at bottom and graduated up to near the top of the shock. Due to the lift this area is now opened up to the elements. Thanks for your help.
Also I checked out your ride, pretty sweet!
Nelson....sure I'll post some pics and summarry of how they go on.. They are supposed to be custom fit so I'm not expecting and major reconstruction...hope I'm not surprised!
Are we talking about the thingy's that Ford makes for the Excursions but doesn't put on the SuperDuty's? They are rubber and keep grime out of the engine compartment.
Oh wait! I didn't see the lift. I guess I wasn't paying attention. Well, maybe you could expand on the Ex thingy's.
My 99 F350 came with those wheel well covers, harder thick plastic I think...you may want to see if you can find some from a dealer...again my is a 99 f350 Super Duty...
