New Ford Beast.....
Also for anyone with a lift....I'm looking at installing some rubber sheeting in the wheel wells to help keep snow, salt, grime from entering the engine compartment and so forth. Has anyone done this? I'd appreciate ideas. I planned on finding some 1/8" or so thick rubber (sheeting), cutting to mold into place and attaching with fasteners......
I was planning to put the Excursion splash guards on my truck when it shows up (hopefully very soon). I put a thread on the Excursion forum asking for part numbers, but no one knew.
Here is a thread from Diesel Stop that my old man pointed out to me - it has the part numbers. I haven't tried these out yet on the local dealer - if anyone does I would be interested to hear how it goes.
Splash Guard Thread
I think that regardless of whether you lift the truck or not there is a gigantic opening that should be closed off. Why Ford doesn't put these on all trucks is beyond me.

Question though...your not talking about the paper felt that goes under the asphalt shingles....I guess I'm not familiar with rubber roofing material. Thanks for oyu help. Ken
By the way my 2001 F-250 just turned 20K miles yesterday while plowing and it is snowing now so another 8 to 10 hours of plowing and maybe sanding once I leave work tonight.
Shadow Hills, thanks for the tip, I had never heard the term lift lips. I did do a search and I think I'll go with them. $49.00 for the four piece set, custom to each vehicle. The simple way out for sure but for $50 bucks and shipping sounds ideal.
Thanks again...BTW as long as I'm soliciting help and have no shame, can I ask another.....I took my Reece electric brakes controller out of my old vehicle and want to put it in the beast. I can't find where to plug the six point thing in. I see the outlet receptacle sort of under the radio area put it's a long narrow connection for.......????? I don't know what. Is this for the electric brakes and I need change the adaptor? I've searched the owners manual and there is no mention of where electric brakes controller, connects.
Thanks again, and I look forward to helping you all out as well, whenever I can. O.k., here is one repayment of help already....A movie tip. Went and seen Miracle tonight with the family. Great movie, based on true story of our USA Olmpic Team beating the Russians and ultimately winning the gold medal in 1980. Long movie though, like 2 hrs and 15 minutes.
Ford vehicles with tow package: A factory tow package plug located under the dash mates to the brake control adapter harness (supplied by Ford or boughtseparately). Plug the adapter into the factory plug. Probe the adapter wires using
a circuit tester to verify the functions (typically on Ford vehicles the green or light red wire is the ÒBattery (+)Ó, White wire is ÒGround (-)Ó, green wire or ight green wire is ÒStoplightÓ, & blue wire is for the ÒTrailer BrakesÓ. After probing, wire the
brake control Power Module to the corresponding wires on the brake adapter and plug the brake control adapter harness into the factory plug.
Oh and by the way I lived in Lake Placid , N.Y when that game was played. Although I'm not a hockey fan I can tell you that the whole area was an exciting place to be at that time.
Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
I'll resume this mystery tomorrow. None of the wire colors match up with what you are telling me or what I have researched. I'm thinking that since I bought my truck when it was a year old...someone may have changed over the Ford 6 plug adaptor to fit something else into it. I say this because in the area everyone describes as being for the electric brake plug...I find a oblong connection, about 2" wide and 1/3" high, it has I believe 7 small gauge wires going into it and not the blue, red, black, white described for the plug I'm searching for. Most of them are multi colored.
Guess I'll have to stop by the delaership and look at a new one to see what type of connection fitting is supposed to be there. Or, maybe the fitting I'm looking at is for some other device?
Thanks for everyones help.

The connection I wondered about being the electric brake hookup is the computer diagnostic port! I found the electric brake connector stuffed up inside the dash above this area. Plugged it in, mounted, done in five minutes. Once again, knowledge is everything...or lack of it will cost you three hours!
Thanks everyone!
Thanks LilBlackCoupe. I used the have 86 T-Bird Turbo Coupe about ten years ago. My wife misses it but we got rid of it one fall because it really couldn't be driven in winter and we didn't have space or funds for keeping it after getting her a front wheel drive vehicle. My wife occassionaly mentions how that was the best car she ever had. It was fun to drive, 5 speed.
