Just wanted to find out "What's the largest size rear tires anyone place on originial style rims on thier 61-66 F100 SWB 2WD truck; I'm concerned with the inner fender well; seems to be pretty close to my tire's; seem to have alot of outside room but not inside.
Was told about spacers, or even purchasing reverse rims to commendate larger tires, Spacer's are out of the question due to power of engine.
Do you want to go with bigger wheels or are you going to use the stock ones. If you use stock, you will of course be limited by the width of the rim as to what you can fit. I have heard of one gent running 15x8 with a 4 inch offset and 29" slicks. I had a 57 with the fenders stuffed of 60's on 10 inch wheels. a slight rubbing did occur on the back side of the tire to the bed, but nothing too bad unless it was loaded. I have found it valuable to get to know your local performance tire shop guys. You can generally go in there, tell them what you want and they may even mock something up for you, all without spending $$.
I'm sure you will hear more, just hold out.

Mike g;
Thanks for your toughts; do plan on staying with originial rims and stock hubcaps style.
I'll definitely hit up the performance tire shops once resto is completed
i cut out my orig. banged up wheeltubs leaving 2 in. from the bedwall and welded doner tub's in. you have to shorten the cross beams and cut the bed floor. then i had 2 inches added to the inside of my 8 inch reverse wheels making them 10 inch with 275/60/15's looks really cool with no axle change
I have run 30 X 10.00 x 15 on stock rims on a '66 I had. Only about 1" of clearence between tire and inner wheel well, but they did work. Looked pretty good to.
