how much for a locker?
A couple of G's? Holy cow! I thought the locker itself was around $700 or $800 and the compressor etc a few hundred more?
If you are correct about the price maybe I should just go with a detroit locker or something and just buy a new set of tires later on with the cash I save?
Do Do Detroit lockers really cause that much problem on street snow?
Thanks..
Thanks
My bad. I would go selectable, yes. Open is great for just riding around. If you want serious traction only when you need it, open w/ ARB or similiar is the best, yet expensive. A few G's for the ARB system. If money is an issue and you dont like auto lockers, a L/S works decent, and a couple hundred instead of 2 or 3 thousand.
A good place for some unbiased info....go to the tech articles at....

I would say $2,000 easy. I was given an approx quote of $2,500 for my truck. Which included changing the front gears to mactch the new rear. Doing it myself is a little over my confort level.
After looking at a chart and Randy's Ring and Pinion I see the only Locker options I have for my 10.25 are Arb, Detroit Locker, and Lockright. None of which are electrically actuated which I preferred.
The only Posi-traction options I have are Auburn Gear, Eaton Posi, and Track-Loc.
I guess I'll have to narrow it down from there...
Thanks...
The Eaton Elocker is $536 shipped for the 8.8. A reinforced diff cover would be another $120. Plus Bearing (Timken) and seal kit $75. Detroit True Trac for the front $299 to 349 plus bearing kit.
ARBs front and rear plus compressor ~$1500. Bearing and seal kit $75 X 2.
