dude... your wrong... just deal with the fact!!!
i know...w e are the pawns here... i'd love to put a 3.5" or 4.5" hanger kit on mine if it weren't a problem as i have been told... that would fit them 44" tires just perfectly!
we will get a chance to check out each others equipment in a couple of weeks... and for that dude that likes guys... i am talking about trucks here! lol.

Well Abendx, you better put in a order for them 44" tires because when you come down here, you'll see you can put the 3.5" hanger on and see that I'm right. Hey, we could also take a ride down to the shop that did mine and chat with them.

Go here to see a true cross over steering setup.
I am actually coming to supercross. But I say to each his own onthe cros over setup. I have done months of investigating on it and would never lift past 8 inches without a cross over, unless with a body lift. When you put angles on the sector shaft of the steering box, you don't just push side to side. It goes up and over, creating a lot of stress. I have heard of people making it work without problems, but is the gamble really worth the $950????? A buddy of mine has a F350 with a 13.5" spring lift, no cross over and he says that the stress is so bad, as soon as he has the cash he will buy the cross over kit and a new steering box.
Possibly, I don't know exactly what I am in for yet. My best friend has been working for a factory team for some time now. Since he works the races, he is never home anymore, he's always on the road. So I may be hanging with him the whole time. If I get my truck before the race, I'm gonna bring my bikes and force him to ride on thursday. But tell me where and when you guys are gonna meet by email and I'll probably see you there.
Thanks Chad... I was talking with a guy from one of the "other" boards and he had done an 8" SkyJacker with 1.5" shackle without the x - over steering. He say's that he has no problems. I don't know sooooo many choices.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 18-Apr-02 AT 10:35 AM (EST)]Thanks for the pictures Chad. OK 1 more question now are the leveling kits the same thing as a hanger?
Abendx, you are right the body lift does look good on your truck!
Oh wait another one! If I go with a 3" hanger will I have to lengthen my drive shafts or do anything extra to the suspension!
Thaks again for the help guys!
Disregard the 1st question I just answered it myself !
>Abendx, you are right the body lift does look good on your
>truck!
thanks.... it was a big worry for me to do that since i don't like the way body lifts look either.... when i saw on on a superduty i said... wow... that looks good! and did it (since i won't go more than 8" in suspension without the x-over steering).
>Oh wait another one! If I go with a 3" hanger will I have to
>lengthen my drive shafts or do anything extra to the
>suspension!
yes..... although chad and i still disagree on the whole issue of x-over steering.... adding a hanger kit is adding suspension... it is no different than adding leafs with a greater arch.
so a 10" all spring suspension -and- a 8" spring + 2" hanger setup would be the same to the truck (yeah yeah... chad and i disagree on this point).....
that means that over 6" you will end up needing to lengthen the driveshafts.... at 8" only the front will need lengthening, over 8" both front and rear will need it..... also, from what i understand, it is best not to lengthen the rear shaft, but to replace it.... i have not heard the STRONG arguements for this as i have heard for the x-over steering, but ppl do recommend this.... maybe not the strong arguments for it since it is not a HUGE safety issue.... meaning if them ppl on the pro x-over steering setup are correct.... you could lose your ability to steer while driving down the road..... and that would be BAD! if you lost your rear drive shaft.. you will just not be able to go anywhere.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 18-Apr-02 AT 01:45 PM (EST)]I agree with Abendx, that having a brand new driveshaft is better than cuting and welding new peices to the original. As for the Hanger/Leveling kit (same thing) the item you will need to change depends on the total lift. Like Abendx said, if you go above 8", you will need to lengthen the front shaft (which isn't too expensive at all), you may need longer shocks, and depending on how you like the look of the kit (front/back hight of the truck) you may need a larger block or additional leaf spring(s) (depending if you have a all leaf kit or leaf and block setup).
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 18-Apr-02 AT 01:57 PM (EST)]Cool you guys, thanks for the info!
Abendx, did you use any type of lift skirts or anything with your body lift? from the picture you cant even tell the body is lifted (no see through spacing)
