Which 302s will work

Which 302s will work

Was wondering what year 302 block will match a 1991 F150 302. I have read on the forum that there is a certain year that the F150 302 started with a knock sensor. Did cars also have this? I was thinking of buying a Crown Vic or Gran Marquis in the 88-90 range for $250-$400 and then building off the motor. Looked in junk yards but the motors are already out of the vehicle and don't know if the motor is runnig clean and smooth. I was planning on changing the cam to one that will run well with speed density and if can find will upgrade to GT40 heads. Any help or ideas will be appreciated. Thanks

the newer car blocks were roller especially the h.o. mustangs. Explorers got the gt40 heads after I believe 96 as did some of the trucks, You can use a regular cam in a roller block which Ford started with in 85.
