Does anyone have a 69-72 f-100 long bed with a gas tank below the bed on the drivers side with dual exhaust. I just want to know how you fabricated it. Hopefully with out stock headers... Just seeing what people did with that setup. If not im thinking about just taking the gas tank out. Thanks.
i have the tank behind the seat btu i also have 2 saddle type tanks on the bed on both sides go to your local exhaust shop would be ur best bet you could run both off to one side or do a y pipe down to 1 big ube then split it off to duals out the back 1 4 inch pipe will flow better than 2 2inch pipes its a proven fact you do the math we did it in class one day and i was surprised
My driverside exhuast makes a really tricky bend(can't be made at home) to get between the tank and the driveline and goes back from there. Going this route is nice, because everything stays above the bottom of the frame. It can be done, it just takes an exhuast guy who knows what hes doing. Most shops will try to talk you into taking both down the passenger side.
Well im going to do it myself, at the shop, just wondering what types of things you guys did.... I think i may just end up taking out the tank, cuz i was thinking, since im putting air bag suspension in anyway, i can use that space to hold the compressor and such... cuz i wouldnt know where else to put it..
think about this, joe, what are you going to do with the exhaust when you put in the compressor? I dont know how large of a tank/compressor you plan on using for your suspension, just thought I would give you something to think about.
besides, if you are taking the gas tank out for the compressor/air tank, just leave the gas tank in and put the compressor on the other side, or on the outside of the frame.
Hey there,
I realize you guys are talking 2wd and I have a 4x4, but all my exhaust is between the frame rails and I have all kinds of extra crap under there. I'm running hedman elite hedders, dual 2 1/2" pipes with crossover and 3 chamber flows. I don't have the aux gas tank, but don't see how it would interfere.
you dont see how it can interfere cuz you dont have it... haha.... Well im not possitive about the airbags, but i think that if i just get ones with a 2 small compressors that you fill up yourself, then they can fit, plus you can have the exhaust flow through
