Computer Mods/Updating?

Here it is;

I have read alot of info on aftermarket mods and having the computer updated with these mods (intake, exhaust, tires, etc).
(I have all of the above mods on my 2004)

After making these mods, I called the local dealer with this question and was informed that the computer on my 2004, "self adjusts" to aftermarket mods depending on use. They also informed me that weather towing or without a load, the computer adjusts the air/fuel and shift points depening on how the truck is driven.
They also stated that the computer "self adjusts" depending on octane and altitude.

Have any of you heard the same story?

I am new to the V10 world and love my truck (lots of power & torque). I want the best, but also want the truth. Do I need the computer updated at the dealer with the mods?
Any info appreciated.

On the 99 V10 (not sure if it was carried to later years) the engine included a "knock sensor". The computer advanced the ignition timing until until preignitioni was just starting and then held that advance for a few milliseconds until re-checking etc. Higher octane fuels can be run with a higher ignition timing advance and produce more power so the V10 actually does produce more power with a higher octan fuel. This was not the case with any other engine I'm aware of at that time, higher octane fuel would help reduce preignition but ignition timing was not advanced to increase more power until knock was detected.
