tires

I am considering purchasing a tire and wheel package for my f250 from 4 wheel parts wholesalers.

I am looking at 33X12.50 16 swamper ssr's mounted on eagle alloys 16X10 rims. Any comments? How are these tires? I drive the truck daily, so I don't want a tire that is tough to handle, but want an agressive design. ANy problems fitting a stock 2003 Superduty with the X code springs?
Thanks for you input.

thanks for your ideas.

Freak, what are the swampers like on the street? I completely understand that they are no pavement based tire, but, are do they wander or hydroplane easily?

ANyone had experiances with the X terrains or maxxis buckshot mudders?

Also, I'm considering a 305 70 16 as well. Would thes work well on an 8" rim?

Hey, I have the 33"SSRs on 8" rims, and they are great! You can drive them daily, and they aren't bad on water, ice or snow, but it depends how far you drive and what your opinion of "bad" is. I have a friend that drives a 1990 bronco with 37" SSRs about 100 miles a day. Every day. So, it can be done, but they wear a little quicker than an all season would. I don't drive my truck that much, so mine will probably last forever The SSRs don't wander at all. They are like a little louder BFG mud terrain, which I have had a couple sets of. In my opinion, the SSR is THE best street and mud tire, but if you aren't getting into much mud, save your $$. As far as the x-terrain, I don't know, but directionals don't appeal to me. I have looked at the maxxis buckshots too, but haven't had any kind of experience with them yet, either. Oh, 92f150I6, I paid $190 a piece for the SSRs from Tyres international. With shipping, it was around $220. Not exactly cheap, but I really like em, and since they don't get much use, they are worth it to me. If you drive 40K a year, they might not be the best buy, though. Ted

Ted, thanks for your opinions. I only put about 6000 miles a year on my vehicles. I mainly want an agressive looking tire than can take me through moderate offroading, (an all terrain would do performance wise, but they just don't look good enough for me) I know I sound like a poseur, but I really want the look.

92f150I6-- I just bought the Maxxis Bucshot Mudders for my
01 F-150; 285/75R/16 ($135 each). They tend to walk a little on pavement, but I don't think I've got the pressure right yet. I'm runnig 40psi in them now. The guy that sold them to me had them at 35, they really walked then. As far as mud goes they kick *** and clean themselves out great. I went w/16" rims cause I got a good deal on them.

The liberators are great on the road and a little bit better off road then a stock street tire.
