There are alot of ways to go, one of the most common is the disc brake lincoln rear. The 9 inch can be found in the later Mark IV and the Mark V. Also some town cars had them too. Then there was a rear loader in the Versailles, I think it is an 8.8 but not sure. Now more guys are useing the newer stuff like the Explorer rear end. I have a couple of the heavier units from Expeditions laying in my yard that I got for $75 each at the scrap metal recycling center. It seems the Ford store had dumped them out there. They are quite wide though and would require a special offset rear wheel. When I get time I am going to see how hard it would be to just convert the brakes from one onto a 9 inch. The nice thing about the newer ones is the seperate parking brake. Those old ones on the lincolns that went onto the back of the piston are a night mare to rebuild a caliper on and get them to working again.
