short/regular/long box question

How can I tell if I have a short, regular or long box on my 1988 F150 XLT Lariat 4 x 2, 302, AOD, 3.55 truck with tow package? The truck has the rear bench seat, and is two door (not four door). I am not sure how long each kind of box is supposed to be. It looks like regular or long, but I don't know how to tell.
Thanks,
Frank.

You have a Super Cab/Extended Cab Truck
The standard bed for a extended cab truck is 6ft. (short bed) It should measure approx 6ft front to back.

Hope this helps

Chance are you have the short bed (6 feet).

The long bed measures 8 feet. I can't remember if they put those on the extended cabs or not.

There's only two boxes, not three. Short or long, which would be 6 and about 3/4's or 8 feet repectively.

Actually most Supercabs before about '90 have an 8 ft. bed. This was when you couldn't get a 4x4 Supercab short bed.

That brings up a question.

Is the official name Super Cab or Extended Cab?

When they first started coming out back in the day.....
it seems they were simply called extended cab.
Now I keep hearing and seeing super cab.
I thought that was the 4 dour version but that is another
name.

I am so confused!!!

Super Cab was the Ford trademarked name for an extended cab. I think it was Datsun that started it with the King Cab thirty years ago. Japanese trucks were reeeeally small back then. Crew cab is the generic name for the ones with four full doors.
