C. R. Lawrence (spelling is wrong?) is pretty good. Uses a single pane of glass and doesn't rattle and leak like the two peice ones.

I think that's the company. They may have a dealer locator. Try your local parts places and see if they carry it.

I designed and mocked up the shroud with cardboard, then made a drawing and had it bent out of aluminum. It's fairly thick so there are no welds at the seams. It's coated with auto sound deadener.

maybe this will run against most peoples opinions but i do not think you can beat a stock ford 80-89 (?) rear slider. they fit right in the 73-79 trucks and the design is exceptional. i bought one at a local self serve wrecker and it is by far the best slider i have ever owned. the way it is designed you actually get a taller opening because the sliding part is not mounted in the narrowest part of the window opening so you don't have a metal channel taking up room in the opening. it is one heck of a well engineered unit and repklacement parts are inexpensive. hawkrod

Hawkrod... I agree. I'm in the autoglass business and I see a lot of different types of sliders. C. R. Lawrence makes a good slider and I like the tripanel unit, it uses the factory nonslider gasket. The Ford factory slider come with a special gasket and sells for about $100+- a little and its a really high quality unit. The Ford unit is a 4 panel unit so you have the middle of your rear view mirror blocked but it seals good and fits, my personal preference. If you are cruising junk yards, the rear sliders interchange from 73 to 96 (98 for the F-250 up), just watch for the gasket issue.

I am going with the C.R. Laurence, they have a nice power rear slider that will be the cats meow in my crew.

I've changed the rear slider on my 91 ranger and it was just 6 screws. What is it on earlier models? How difficult to change them? I've thought about putting a slider on my 79 ranger.

Your 79 F-150 will have a gasket mount back glass. They aren't bolted in. It's not a hard job at all and has been covered many times on this forum. Try the search....

Thanks for the info. Window will probably be farther on down the road. I'm putting money into a new motor for "old red."
