brake problems 98f150

please help, if possible,
98 f150. new master, dump valve assembly and sensor on dump valve. installed at local shop.

when normal braking, pedal will fade, almost lose pressure, but not travel all the way to floor. after about 2 inches of movement towards the floor the pressure builds up again. occasionally after this takes place the abs light will appear. the problem is i can't duplicate this behavior, it is totally random and the shop that did the work thinks i'm crazy, wouldn't you?
any ideas/thoughts?
thank you

Hi teakwood and welcome to the forum

Did you replace those parts to try to cure the problem or did it show up after they were replaced?
Are your pads, shoes and drums in good shape? Calipers move back and forth freely? Front wheel bearings adjusted ok?

Something to look at after answering Racerguys questions. The bolts that hold the caliper to the slideing pins, MAKE SURE THE FLAT SPOTS ON THE SLIDER PINS ARE FACEING LEFT TO RIGHT, NOT UP AND DOWN WHEN TIGHTENED DOWN. Good luck. It is hard for me to discribe to you. but if you will pull the bolts out of the caliper and remove it you can remove the slide pins and see the flat spots.

#1 thank you both for your replies to my problem.
the pedal has been falling out so to speak for about a year. i had the parts replaced to try and cure it, it still happens, sometimes numverous times daily and sometimes once a week. all other parts(pad calipers, ect are in great shape).i tow a boat and the season is year round here in az. i definately worries me very much.
my truck is in the shop as we speak they're replacing the master under warranty. i've been talking with a lot of people and i've heard a few stories about similar problems with rear wheel abs drums.
i'm still trying and will hopefully solve the problem.
thanks again,
tom

are you losing any brake fluid?

Have you tried flushing and then bleeding the brake system with fresh fluid?
