new 302 EFI, need help on computer chip

Hello everybody, 85 F-150 EFI Auto. 4x2 (re-built trany. and rear end) - 260,000 mi. on body, 10,000 on new engine. I'm in Denver, Co. and travel quite a bit in the high country. Lots of high mtn. passes ( 8500 feet plus ). No mods. on motor except K&N filter. I know at some point I'll get cat back duals, (and thats about it) but could you suggest a computer chip for this? Is there a chip company or something I could contact? I just need more hp for the mtn. passes, no towing, just hp. No racing around town, just need more power for mtn. highway climbing. (descending is fast and furiuos with little accelerator work!) Also, I can't get my passing gear after 10,000 feet (altitude).
Any thoughts?

Thank you kindly

I don't know if you can chip a truck that old. I think there is a seperate forum for chips and computer mods, and I think the moderator also makes chips. Get in contact over there, they can tell you.

How many miles on the motor? I don't usually like to do performance upgrades on an old engine unless it's been rebuilt. And that sounds like hard work for an old engine.

I agree with Nick... basically with the KandN you have done the logical thing... the fact is you have a little engine and are up so high you just don't have enough oxygen available for more power.
Cubic inches is what you need.... more fuel into the air you have available will only decrease gas mileage.... this is more a need for change in your expectations from your truck... it is doing the best it can .....

yeah you probably may be hurting from lack of oxygen. computer compensates a little, but probably not enough for that. Ford actually equipped some factory vehicles for high altitude applications. you may want to check somewhere on that to see what they did. probably the easiest and cheapest fix for this would be a high performance cam to get the power band a little closer to wear it would benefit your usage.
