My 93 Ranger's cluster is only half lit an night. When I turn on my lights to drive at night only the right half of the cluster lights up. So the left half of the cluster including the left half of the speedometer is not lit up at night.
What could it be...bad fuse, bad light or cluster going bad all together??
I'm pretty sure there is only one fuse for that system. Did this just happen? Were they all working and all the sudden half quit? If it is something you are just now noticing, I would guess you have several bulbs burnt out. If it was immediately noticeable, probably a fuse. Before replacing the bulbs, check all the fuses. Then check the bulbs.
I would suggest that you replace all the bulbs in the cluster to save having to taking it all apart again in a few months because the other old bulbs burnt out. this is from experience. Good luck.
There is a ton of information in this forum on replacing instrument panel lights. Scroll to the bottom of this page and find the square called, "Search This Forum:". Fill in the subject with something like "Replacing Instrument Panel Lights" and go. Start Reading. Also, if your headlight illumination bulb is burnt out, I would suggest you replace that bulb while you have the cluster out. You don't have to buy the entire switch. Read my thread titled, "Illumination of headlight switch". Ford wants about $30 for this switch and AutoZone about $20. If your a little adept with you hands you can disassemble the switch and replace the bulb. Yes, you can buy the bulbs from AutoZone for the cluster. The bulb for the headlight switch I bought from Radio Shack. Good luck!
