Electrical Problem?

I notice when I start my truck the speedo and tack both go all the way to the right then drop back to 0 then after it is started and runs a couple seconds the tach will show normal RPM. Is this normal?

No. It's an indication that your battery is dying. When the engine is off for awhile (and therefore the alternator is not generating current), the battery voltage is dropping to a point too low to retain stored engine operating parameters in the engine computer. The guage needle sweep (all the guages, BTW) is a giveaway that this is happening. New battery time.

Then have your alternator/voltage regulator looked over as well. Perhaps change to a different brand of battery as well.

A bad alternator can charge while runninf, but also drainthe battery if the voltage regulator inside is stuck open.
