well this is the problem on my 82 i love driving the truck in the winter time but i have no heat and i hate rigging up for tundra type weather just to drive the beast. my heater core isnt bad that i can tell no leaking of anykind. hose going in is hot but other hose is cold itll blow luke warm air for about 30 seconds then cold from there what i can tell the mechanisms all work on the blend end. anyone have any ideas. i went to walmart and purchased some plug in crap heaters and after some hard wireing they still just barely take the chill off. i love my truck but just too damn cold to drive in this cold weather snow crap......all opinions and ideas are very appreciated...thanks in advance.
I agree. Same symptoms as mine (83 F150) prior to replacement of core. If no auto parts shop nearby, order one online and shove it in....probably cost less than the WalMart heaters.
They do not always leak when bad.
I just checked...have both standard and high output....also happen to be "on sale" for a few days so that discount may cover shipping. (price is less than $20)
Hint: slit cut the hose connection at existing core...hose comes off easier and you lose only an inch or so. May be time for new heater hoses anyway.
