Don't know what your symptons are but I would look at the IAC and for a vacuum leak first. Both of these would cause symptons similar to a bad map sensor.
a map sensor is a manifold absolute pressure sensor. it senses the barometric pressure in the intake manifold. symptoms would be that you probably cant keep it running without pumping or holding the gas pedal down near wide open. if you can keep it running it will act like an engine that is carberated with the choke on. if you pull the codes it will definately set a code. when mine went bad on my tempo if i unplugged it and removed the vacumn line and left it open the engine ran fine. pull the codes and see what that tells you. what are your symtoms? it is probably not the map sensor because they rarely go bad.
sorry for slow response had a problem with windows could not get explorer to open to gain access to internet. Been working on it for hours trying to figure it out in safe mode now which works.
Anyway, pulling codes dont work for me i put in whole complete engine and it just dosent seem to read codes correctly now.
I was just wondering what syptoms would be if map sensor goes out. I unplugged the vacuum line and it does run like crap and acts like choke is on for a carb engine. I have a high idle and was wondering if map would have something to do with it.
Thanks

you need to electrically unplug also. try it and see what happens. is the high idle all that is wrong or is it running real bad also?
did the problem come on all at once or did it slowly arrive?.
sorry for slow response come was down.
I was just wondering what truck would run like if the sensor craped out. Is it the same as unpluging the vacuam line?
Or does it act diffrently?
Thanks
forget my last post i did not think that it took when i posted it.
It runs fine just has high idle. Seems to have started it when i sprayed some throttle body cleaner into the throats, i think it ate my intake gasket upper only i hope.
i hope you used throttle body cleaner because if you used carb cleaner it would remove the protective coating on many of the intake components. sounds like you have a vacumn leak or that your idle air controller is bad or dirty or stuck open just slightly.
remove the iac and clean it with throttle body cleaner and make sur that it is free. never heard of cleaner ruining an intake gasket but some strange things do happen.
just remember that it is usually the simple things that fool us into thinking that something worse is wrong.
