My turning singnal switch does not stay down on the left but will on the right. How much does that little thing inside the steering colum usually cost and what all has to be done to replace it?
it's actually not that hard to get to. You will need a steering wheel puller, but other than that, maybe a 1/2 hour's worth of work (and you don't need to tpull the whole column out either. Mine does the same thing and it's a little plastic tab that broke off. I haven't replaced it yet mostly because you can't just purchase the plastic piece... it's the whole switch or nothing ($70) and as long as the switch still works... I'm dealing with it ;-)
WOW!! $70? Is yours gold plated? I only paid $8.99 for mine at a local mom and pop parts store hear about 2 yrs ago. But then again...they aren't around anymore...I wonder why?
if you can find me one for $10 I'd grab it in a heart beat. The reason they wanted so much is that it's not just the plastic carrier. It has a bunch of wires and electronics on it too.
I have a steering wheel puller so I will call some local auto part stores and see about the price. If it is too much I can get used to just holding it down! Thanks
he he he.. I did (been that way for almost 2 years... after a while you don't even notice it anymore until someone else drives your truck and says something)
Last time I let some one drive my truck I wound up with a shattered windshield and a huge knot on my head. She said she was not used to such "touchy" brakes. I still can not think straight.
You know... Your problem might not be your switch. I would check your turn signal fluid and make sure it has enough in the resevoir. Keep that thing topped off and you shouldnt have any problems... If you need some you can order it for pretty cheap at the link below.
LMAO!! OMG!! I did that to my dad once...he is the kind of person that can blow a fuse changing a light bulb. I sent him to the parts store to get som eparts, and I included signal fluid in 30 weight...hehe Boy was he ****ed when he got back!
I damn near fell out of the truck I was laughing so hard.
