Maybe you didn't go through the proper contacts. My buddy had a 7.3L a year ago that the Turbo went out on 4 days after he bought it and he contacted Ford and they replaced his ENTIRE TRUCK no problem. It doesn't help to bitch and moan you have to be polite not raising HELL.....
I have went through the right contacts. The only contacts available and even a few inside contacts. I want something done now not 6mos from now.
I was nice and polite for 3mos while my truck was in the shop and I was losing $2500.00 a week in down time. Not to mention repair cost that was not covered under their pathetic warranty and what was under warranty I had to pay the $100.00 deductible. I once had to pay the deductible to the Dealership in Lamar Co. even though the truck had been there for over a week and they could not figure out what was wrong with it, and I had to put it on a trailer and haul it home. I have gotten a nasty message on my voice mail from the service manager at Hergert ford in Perryton TX because I reported his negligence to ford. So yeah, I have gone beyond the nicey nice stage.
Your friends truck was a 7.3L, they replaced it so easily because they didn't have near the problems with that motor, they didn't have to replace a 7.3L truck everytime they turned around. They are losing lots of money with these 6.0L. It has gone beyond lemon to lots of deffective trucks. Now they have put up this big defensive line to try to keep people at bay until hopefully they just give up and trade the thing off.........then the customer is the one losing money NOT Ford.
Barrelracer, I am sure I speak for everyone here when I say I would feel the same way if it happened to me. Please don't get discouraged with the new 6.0. I have been a diesel Mechanic for a long time now, and now I currently am a Captain of 7 different yachts and can tell you diesels break down!!! I remember when Detroit Said its series 60 would last longer then their company, yet I had to pick up a piston rod from the middle of I-64 when I was in high school. That piston rod came from a series 60 Detroit. All in all @#$% happens.
Barrelracer, You said "Yes, it is a 100000ml warranty on the motor (navistar warranty not ford) and there is a $100.00 deductable on warranty work no matter the milage. The Tranny and rear end only have a 36000ml warranty."
$100 deductible? I have had my truck in for service 8 times and have never had to pay anything. Have you been paying a deductible each time you bring it in on warranty work?
Now they have put up this big defensive line to try to keep people at bay until hopefully they just give up and trade the thing off.........then the customer is the one losing money NOT Ford.
From my perspective, it appears that Ford's public relations handling of this issue, is what has considerably magnified the truck's problems. "Fessing up", is what Ford does not seem to be able to do. And in politics, the word used is "Stonewalling" , meaning.........given time, the problem just might go away. Not an affective approach in today's market place. May well have worked in the 1950s, but not today.
BTW, ever so slightly off topic, but:
Good Thought Fm BarrelRacer
Diesel is Not Built Ford Tough !!
I do like that.........
Just a Thought ..........on.........My Perceptions........
Flounder, I believe you are right. I looked back on my receipts and I did not have to pay the $100.00 deductable on the first few times it was in the shop. Once the milage went over the 34000 mark then I had to start paying the warranty deductable.
SBV45, how many miles does your truck have on it?
Luke, drtry10, thank you for understanding my frustration and thank you for your support.
I have always bought fords and have never had a complaint with them until now........but, I never had any problems with my vehicles up til now. Ford sponsors rodeos and has incentives for AQHA members, so that gave ford a plus in my book. Also, they advertise their trucks as "Work trucks, built ford tough". So, of course I buy Fords...........All that has come to a screaching hault!
I have really learned a lot with this deal. I will definately be grilling the dealership I buy my next vehicle from......be it, GMC, Dodge or Ford. I will find the best deal and the best warranty possible no matter the make.
Unfortunately, it has gotten to the point where potential customers will have to go into the dealership to negociate the purchase, with a lawyer, and spend hours reviewing the sales contract. Sick, Sick, Sick...........
BarrelRacer, I have just under 8,000 miles on it so far. No I don't put the miles on it that you do. Based on your post, it would appear you have not had good service. On the other hand, I think I have had good service. I have only had to deal with one dealership. You have had to deal with many. I think yours is the exception. I have not had to go direct to Ford to resolve a problem. When you contacted Ford Customer Service, what did they say to do? Did you start the DSB process? I am not relying on mine for income at this point so my anxiety level wouldn't be as high.
When I contacted Ford they told me to contact the Dealership.....I informed them that I had already done that and they told me to call them. All they do is enter stuff into the computer and if by chance it gets the attention of someone can actually do something then you might get results. I did get contacted by Jason Medley @ the select dealer region from MI. I talked to him a week ago thursday, he said he would call me back the next day and I have yet to hear from him. He said he wanted to know what all went wrong with the truck and what my expectations were.
I have requested an arbitration package and have yet to receive it........it's been 2 wks.
I too am highly dissapointed with my new 04 6.0 psd. It has been in the shop twice for two diffferent problems since my puchase in late december03.My latest beef is that I am only getting 10 mpg. I called ford customer service and had everything documented.
I rely on my truck for work and each day it is down I am loosing money. Ican only hope at this time it does not break down on me again.
I feel for you. I hope we all get our trucks replaced or bought back. I think Ford should step up and do the right thing. But, what do I know..........I'm just a little ol country girl. You would think that with all the calls I am sure they are getting that they would take notice, step up and make things right.
I'm wondering if your claim was actually submitted to the dispute resolution board.....this may be way off base, but what has happened with others on this forum, the claim you mailed in may just have been precessed by some clerk at.....where ever..........the dealership.......who knows. .......
Consider filing a claim with your state's Arbitration Certification Program board.
