CPS? Is it bad????
I did not search this topic because I am impatient today.....so I will just ask. Is there a way to tell that your cps is bad....or beginning to fail.....symptoms. Or does it just quit? I am trying to track down a cold engine "skip" that goes away when hot. It comes about at around 1250 rpm's It is more like a buck as you hold steady speed. When you hold that rpm in neutral or park, the engine runs smooth as it does when holding the brake in gear at tat rpm range. It only does it when moving and cold to moderately warm.....goes away after complete warm up. Dealer reflashed my computer and said that skip was not normal and the reflash should cure it.....however it has not. I am just shootin' into the dark here as I am quite fed up with Ford's warranty repairs. If the dang truck does not explode in their face, they either can't or wont spend time trying to diagnose problems, so I guess I am on my own....any suggestions are appreciated.

i have a 2000 250 last winter my cps went. the truck went into high idle, then died just as if i trned it off, it tarted again, but only for a sec. that was it. had it towed to the dealer, and had the cps replaced. then a few months later while i was driving and hitting bumps, it would sometimes die or skip a beat, though i could always start it, i pushed my luck and ever had it replaced again last week it started acting up again, dieing and skipping more frequently, finaly it died and would not start. i had it scanned and it turns out that my superchip had vibrated out of my pcm, i pushed it back in and it has been running fine
