new timing chain question (351M)

Hi all,

Well, I got my new timing chain from Summit. The listing was for 351C, 351M, and 400. Now, when I removed my old timing chain set, I rotated the crank to make the dot on the crank gear line up with the mark on the cam gear (didn't care where TDC on #1 was, or anything else). The old set had the crank dot in line with the keyway. The new set has the dot about 30° off the keyway. Speaking of keyways, the new set has roughly a .25" key slot, halfway (axially) through the gear, the old set has a .1875" slot the full length of the gear. The new cam gear pointer is 180° away from the old cam gear. I'm guessing I need to return this timing set ASAP. I've heard about the factory retard (not a reference to a Ford worker) built into the stock timing set, and I'd like to not have that when I put this all back together. What's my next step?

Thanks in advance (so to speak)!
