I have a 1984 F150 I6 auto Tfi ignition Tiff IV.
It Has all of the sensors hooked upband everything seems to be working except the egr system (both the solenoid and the valve are bad, line from the exhaust cracked ) which needs complete replacement.
I have a pretty good idea about the function af all of the sensors except for the oxygen sensor.
Since it is a carb system, what does the oxygen sensor control?
The dithering valve on the carb? the egr?
Any ideas?
The o2 sensor's input is used along with other sensors to control spark advance and the air bypass solenoid on the feedback Carter carburator. I changed mine one time and it was like I had put a new motor in it. It ran that much better.
Something else to consider i that the computer can only adjust properly if the baseline setting is set properly. On the base of the carb where the idle mixture screw is on a normal carb is an air bypass screw. this is what is used to adjust the feedback carb. Just remember taht it's the oppsite of an idle mixture screw. in richens the mix and out leans it.
