Now that i have the tranny problem figured out im on to one small thing about the motor...I have read that with the 393 stroker motor the best timing to set it at is 36 degrees...what about the non bored out 387? Anyone no what is a good timing to set the 387 at? Also...spark plug gap? Im running 63 cc heads with i think a 12:1 compression and 150 shot. Will the standard 351 gap get blown out by the extra compression? Preesh..
yeah you can make 427 408 393 391 387 out of a 351 probably a couple more. but the timing would be the same i'm pretty sure because boring it out just makes it have bigger pistons. so the timing would probably be the same
There is no answer to this question.
The timing depends on to many variables, such as:
Compression ratio (dynamic)
Cam
Combustion chamber
Fuel octane (you are going to be running race gas I hope)
And a slew of other factors
You are planning some way of retarding the timing when you hit the bottle, right?
I suggest starting out with mild timing (28 or so) and then timing it on a dyno.
Of course, if you are not concerned about blown head gaskets, holed pistons, etc, then just set it at 36 and go
steell...i wanna use your brain real quick...and ya i guess it is in the rong forum but well go with it neway...do you know...or know where i can find out about making this block and car a hell of a lot of go...ne good websites that touch on the topic of ohh lets say...retarding the timing when using nitrous..lol
