Warner T18 shift housing
Hi,
I screwed up and let my shifter become loose. It finally fell off while on the road, and i fooled around till i got it in reverse so I could back to the side. Can anyone tell me how to get it out of reverse, describe where the reverse fork is and how to get the shifter back in. The shop manual says put it in second before removing the shifter, but its a little late for that!

If you look down the hole where the shifter came out you will see the 3 "sliders"( I don't know the correct name for them) the end of the shifter contacts and moves back and forth. If it's stuck in reverse, the one on the left side (driver's side) should be ahead of the rest. Block the wheels or set the brake, push in the clutch, and take a big screwdriver or even your jackhandle and slide it back so it's even with the other two. Then just hold the shifter in the neutral position and drop it back in.

I saw "somthing" in the upper left.
I ended up putting the shifter back in about the reverse position, then pushing down on the cap and pushing up on the shifter. When I looked back down into the shifter housing the "reverse slider" was gone. Started it up and it was in neutral!! Put the shifter in, screwed the cap down (tight) drove it home and parked it on top of a snow bank, just cause I could.
