I was thinking about getting a carriage works billet grille. If I put this on how do I get my hood open? I read about this a little while back. Some one said there is an adapter but I dont think the grille includes one. Do I have to modify something or butcher job it? Thanks
Mike
Mike, I just bought a Stull billet grille for my 96 Bronco. Have not installed it yet (too freakin' cold) but it came with an extender arm for the hood latch. The arm attaches to the factory hood latch and relocates it up to the top instead of in front. When installed, you will have to slide your hand up under the hood and lift the release.
Installing the new release requires you to drill a 3" diameter hole in the plastic shroud to the right (driver's side) of the hood latch. Then you drill a small hole in the latch mechanism and bolt the extender to it. The new release pokes up through the 3" hole so that you can access it once you have popped your hood with the cable release.
I would imagine that most billet grille manufacturers use something similar. You could send them an e-mail and ask.
