I'm looking around at billet grilles for my truck (see sig.) and I would like to hear some opinions about which one is the best buy (appearance, durability, and finish) for my money.
Also, I'm thinking of getting some diamond style headlights and clear corner markers. Which ones do you folks out there recommmend?
There was another post recently on this. Believe it or not, Ford has a nice stainless steel one they sell as an accessory through any Ford parts department. It clips right over the existing grille, and there's an opening for the Ford blue oval. About $180, and you can install it yourself.

I went to my local Ford parts dept. to order the grille insert 1956MarkII is talking about, but they told me it was for gas engines only. Does anybody with a diesel have this grille insert??
I think it looks great and you can even order the side vents. Wish it worked on the diesel?
Why would it not work on a diesel ??? That makes no sense at all. Go to ANY aftermarket company that sells grille's and they do not state which ones for a diesel and which ones are for a gas powered truck...BECAUSE IT DOESNT MAKE A DIFFERENCE.......

I Agree!
Especially if it's the Putco type grill that attachés to the oem grill. You just specify if you want the grill with the cutout for the oem blue oval to show through... or not. Nothing about engine type!
My truck is a '95, so I'm not asking about clip-ons, or whatever they are called. I'm talking about one where I can replace the factory grille with. It seems that there are more parts available for the new ones than the older ones like mine.
Most likely you can, but of course they will charge you more.
I mail order everything now, learned years ago when I would order from the stores here, they would order it and I would have to wait for a week or so to get it, I figured heck, I can do the same thing and cut out the middle man and save some cash.
You could try Summit Racing also, thry have a lot of bolt ons.
Thats what the parts counterperson said. They showed me their computer screen and it said "for gas engines only"?? They said it was an air flow issue. Being new to diesels I took their word on it, but I did think that the grille insert should not cause a significant airflow obstruction. I may buy the thing anyway!
I go to the dealer on Tue. for that warranty work and would like to know if any diesel owners have installed the bolt-on Ford billet grilles and if your engine runs the same since installing it?
I would like to purchase the grille, but would appreciate some first hand knowledge before I do! Look forward to hearing from you.
Does anyone make a billet grille (like the stull) that actually comes on the grille frame instead of cutting out the old grille and installing the new grille?
