I have a problem i picked up a 76/77 ford 3/4 ton. The truck came with dual piston calipers. I cant fit my 15 on the front with out hitting the calipers. I need help and i have pix of my setup. What do i have for options to make my 15's fit. I need to go the cheap way. I found 2 inch spacers but they want 400 CDN for 2. Is there a part # to go with single pistion calipers. Will a single fix the problem. The truck will never see the hiway. Any help? The frony is a Dana 44 high pinion!
2 inches and 400 bones. I can find a single piston caliper for 28 bones new. Can i switch the the duals for the singles? They guy is not sure they are the right ones. Do u guys know where i can find some used spacers cheap?
I do not think you will find a single piston caliper to fit on a 3/4 ton setup. The single piston bolt's up and attaches a completely different way than the 3/4 ton does. The 3/4 ton attaches with a top and bottom bolt that the caliper slides on, the 1/2 ton has the wedge mount. Next to impossible conversion there.
the rim is a custom made 15x10 with 8 lug pattern? Never seen that, you could possibly have someone make custom adapter's but I was never very big on those for safety reason's
Upon further thinkin of the spacer setup you would probably need about 3" or 4" spacers to clear the caliper from the wheel
My 77 F-250 has factory single piston calipers however, it's two wheel drive and also has 16" wheels. I don't know if you kind find any 3/4 ton calipers that will fit under 15" wheels. A word of caution, the one thing you don't want on a motor vehicle is a cobbled together brake system.
does it also have the wedge and clip that goes on the bottom side of the caliper with the single bolt that retains it? If so it is the light duty suspension, same caliper as a 1/2 ton
I know of no manufacturer that makes a bolt on single piston caliper to replace a dual piston caliper setup. Can you say lawsuit
I have to agree with wick246, if you can't do it a safe way than discard the wheels and tires and get the correct one's
Oh well that is different! There are probably never any spectator's standing around that would mind getting run down by a size 38 because of a busted wheel spacer
You can get 16 inch steel wheels for $40 a piece. You should not even attempt to use a single piston caliper on a 3/4 ton, it is very dangerous, single pistons do not have the power to stop a much heavier truck.
