ATV Ramps

I pick up my new F250 on Wednesday. The first add-on will be ramps for my ATV and Lawn Tractor.
I had (have if anybody's interested <G>) an F150 and 7ft MC ramps worked just fine.
The higher tail gate and the low plow clearance on the ATV make those ramps way too steep. The longest I've found are 10' (12 " wide) MC ramps that fold in half at Discount Ramps.Com (www.atvramps.com/combo_ramp.htm) for $279.00 plus shipping and handling.
Any other ideas?

Thanks
Frank

How do you get the 5' plow into the box? I have a plow on my wheeler and I have to take it off and then load it in behind the wheeler.

I use 8' ramps and never had any problem loading my wheeler (4WD)..

Slammer,

Thanks for your reply.

Actually the blade is 48" It's a Moose manual.
The problem is not the ability of the Quad 4 to climb the ramp isn’t the very low clearance of the blade of 5"...if the incline is too steep the blade james into the ground or ramp.
Ever thought about backing the 4 wheeler up the ramp and let the blade sit on the open tail gate?

Took delivery of the truck yesterday...having trouble getting into the cab due to eriction!<G>

I use a set of 8ft ramps to get all of this stuff loaded http://www.rockymountainatv.org/images/ridespots/towvehicles/index.htm I also secure the ramps to the truck so that you don't spin them out from under the ATV's (done that a couple of times on the smaller truck). 8ft seems to be long enough and give a good angle for getting everything loaded. I don't ride the two top ones on but I do put them up there under their own power, it's not nearly as hard as it may look.

Ah yes I forgot about the 5" problem. Maybe try this, take a tape measure and run it out ten feet see what angle you get and maybe you will have the clearence that you are in need of. Then your option would be to go with the 10' foldable ramps. One thing to check for on those long ramps would be how much weight they are reated for. And yes I do get quite a few second looks when it's loaded. We sold the popup this spring and got a 26' bunk house, that really took some wind out of the sails, just pulling the trailer at this altitude. I haven't yet had it loaded with that trailer behind it yet (next week).

I'm looking at folding 10 footers from ATVramps/combo_ramp.htm.

They are arted at 600 pounds per ramp. I'm thinking about finding somebody locally to make me 3 foot extensions for the 7 footers I already have.

Good luck this weekend.

Truck arrived Wednesday...I’ve already dinged it so now I can really start to use it.

Snow plow goes on this week along with back up lights and a hid a step so I can get into the tool box.

Wish list and advise on same!

Anybody know what the hole in the dash next to the ash tray/cup holder is? On my Taurus there’s a similar hole but it has a rubber pad with a lip so you can stick stuff on it and it won’t fall out. Not so on the 250, nothing will stay put. Could a CB radio go there? Any advice on type of CB radio and antenna?

Has any body installed the dash kit offered by AutoMega...see at:
http://www.customautotrim.com/wood-dash-kits/dash_md1924.htm
Just want to be sure it installs properly and does not look like the “glue” on that it is!

Any and all input appreciated.

Thanks

Use extreme caution with ramps and your ATV's. A few months ago I was loading mine up and the darn ramp slipped out...I am still recovering from the knee surgery.

Thanks for the advise. My ramps have a steel cable attached with a hook for the bumper which makes them pretty "slip-proof". Still riskey business so I try to bve careful.

I used a 14' 2 x 10 and made ramps to fit inside my `97 short bed with ho-made aluminum plates at the beginning end. I still use them with my tail high F-350 dually and I ride the 4-wheeler right up, no problem.

Right...my ramps are only 7' long and therefor too step for the 5" clearence of the plow blade on the ATV and the lawn tractor simply does not have the torque to climb such a steep incline. I think I've solved the problem with a locak welder. We's making me 3.5' extensions that will slip over the ends of the existing ramps.
