Banks says their cat back is 3 1/2" pipe with a 4" tip. That is larger than my stock exhaust. Are other manufacters' cat backs this size? I seem to only find exhausts around 3". Seems to me the 3/1/2" is a better breathing cat back...?
Funny you should mention this. I did some computing last night to see which is better one 3" pipe or 2/2.5" pipes and came to the conclusoin that one 3.5" pipe is almost as good as two 2.5" pipes.
I was using the old (area = pie * radius squared). The 3.5" pipe hs an area of 9.616" and two 2.5" have an area of 9.813".
Now the argument begins! Do you want MAX flow for horse power, or do you whant a little back pressure to help with torque???????
And then do you whant two tailpipes or one big one?
And then which is easier to install and less expensive?
I don't know about where you are but for me to get a Banks, custom mandrel bent exhaust would be in the niebourhood of $2500 Canadian!!!
So that is out of the question. And for my local shop(even a good one)
to bend 3.5" pipe is a little unsetteling. Have you ever seen how they bend that stuff and how kinked and out of shape the pipe gets???:-X23
I'm not sure what to do either so I'll wait to see what you all have to say.
