Temp Guage

I have noticed that my temp guage for a while now runs at the very bottom of the normal line. And every once in a while u can watch it and it moves up for a few seconds to bout midway then moves down. Im not concerned bout it since it is running in the normal range but I was just wandering what could be causing this. My dad said the thermostat is probably stuck on thats y it is always cool. I just wanted to see what other people thought bout this.

Thanks

Assuming there is no air in the cooling system, I'd just go replace the thermostat and the temp sending unit. I've been through four temp sending units in the life of my Ranger; they don't seem to last for whatever reason.

I would change out the thermostat first. It's been my experience that the OEM Motorcraft thermostats keep a more constant temperature, and they seem to last longer than the aftermarket brands.....just my $0.02...

Mine did something similar. IT would warm up to normal, then go all the way up to hot for a few seconds. Then it would cool down to normal and stay there. I replaced the thermostat, flushed the system, and changed the coolant. It worked for me.
