Cool Good to tow?

I am planning on getting a bronco, and I was just wondering if anyone has towed with one before? I'd be pulling a horse trailer with a horse in it, and since I love my horse lol, I want to know if he will be safe? Thanks

Never had a problem with my 16' boat. Panic braking can get interesting though due to the short wheelbase.

Yes, towing with a short wheelbase vehicle can be an adventure at times. What kind of distances would you be towing? What is the weight of the horse/trailer combo?

Well I am planning on getting a 2 horse, horse trailer so it would be about, say 1200lbs all together. The distance can be anywhere from 45 minutes to 4 hours down to conyers horse park. The horse trailer would be... 13 feet long maybe, perhaps not even that.
Is it a huge disadvantage driving a short wheelbase as apose to a longer one, like a truck?

I have towed a 2 horse with my bronco for years, and never had any problems. I think my trailer is lighter then what you are talking about. Plenty of power and more moneverable. Of course the longer wheel base is more stable, but with live anamals we tend to keep the speed down.

I have even towed with a 70 bronco, with out any problems, shorter trips and slower speeds.

Take a look at my centurion, the best of both worlds.

Yes, the centurion is the best of both worlds. We used to tow our 38" camping trailer with ours. We towed for a solid five years before we found a park to put it into. It can be seen in my gallery.

It is a four door F-250/350 with a Bronco back end. You can find some info about them here www.fourdoorbronco.com

What will help is electric trailer brakes or good surge trailer brakes and that aleviates about as much of the panic braking as possible. Heck, locking up with a trailer with an F250 SD is know fun!

ive towed a 17 foot boat for years now and have never had a problem. dont know what all this talk is about a short wheel base in a panic stop. again never had a problem. the short wheel base and tight turning radius makes backing a trailer very easy, so easy that any one can do it.
if short wheel base was such a problem then why are the tractors in a tractor trailer so short?
well any way if you drive sensable and leave plenty of room you wont have to panic break and if you are towing a horse and trailer than you will be carefull and sane wont you?

Bojafoso,

I think its gotten common for people to cruise at 80mph with a trailer in tow!

I'm with you on the backing with a Bronco. The turn radius is awesome.

i guess when you tow at 80 mph you would have problems with any vehicle in a panic situation. i personally would not exceed 60 mph when towing or for that matter even in every day driving. i have never drove my bronco over 65 , will it go faster than that?
