I know that there are extensions foir the light duty guy's but what about us?????????
My camper is 8'4" wide and with mirrors fully extended all I can is the camper . The only thing saving me so far is that the thing is raised 5.5" from the floor of the bed. I hope to put it down 1.5" and back about 6" (to clear the clearance lights) to help stabilize and reduce drag a tad.
Any thoughts?
Hmmmmmmmm may be a real stuiped question but do you have the big trailer mirrors or do you have the short style. I goofed up when I bought my truck and didnt get the big trailer mirrors and got luck and traded a friend for his mine work great.Just becareful when going to a bank drive threw it gets real close.Take care and happy travels
I've got the pull out power mirrors (I think they should be powered to go in and out too). As you know they pull out about 3" and still all I see is the camper. On my 89 I had to build a 4" extension ( a couple pieces 1x1/4 aluminum per side) to see around an 8' wide camper and couldn't see around this one. If I were to extend those another 3" it would have been good but then the mirror would vibrate so bad you couldn't see any thing any way, not that it would help here.
Not sure about putting mirror on the camper, the overcab part doesn't go past the front edge of the roof and I tend to bang my head on stuff (not tall just clumsy ) but thanks any how.
Has anyone taken these mirrors apart? I wonder if it would be possible to make the tubes longer some how?
I guess I could go to a narrower camper but wheres the fun in that. Lots of fifth wheels and trailers are the same width. What do you guys do?
Sorry about that- got your post confused with another who has the "regular" mirrors.
Trailers & fifth-wheels (except Titanium) don't sit up close to the cab like a camper, so there is some room to see around them. My 5th-wheel is 8' wide and I can see down both sides of it- even without having the mirrors fully extended.
I seem to remember some people talking about a brand of mirror that attaches to the door with nylon straps. Don't know if it sticks out any further than the TT mirrors, but it might be worth some research.
