What is the purpose of removal? More power? Whenever any emissions related component is altered or removed, you do run the risk of youre trucks computer reading improper information from its sensors, which can alter the performance. What I suggest to people who would like to free up their constrictive Y pipe and cats, is to run a high performance Y pipe. Bassani manufactures one. I have one on my bronco, as do many others on the boards here. If you would like some info on them, just respond here and I can get it for you.
Well the manufacturers site is www.bassani.com . Here is the site where I purchased mine HERE . You might either want to do a search for Bassani in this forum, or post another thread about the bassani Y pipe. That might get some of the other users here who run it to reply and give you some info about their experiences. I have nothing but praise about the whole line of Bassani products (I have their ceramic coated headers, there high flow Y pipe, and I had their catback(long story)).
I had a 95 Eddie Bauer with a 351. I removed the second cat and put on a 40 series one in / two out Flowmaster. It sounded awesome! I regret selling that Bronco to this day. BTW, I was getting 16.5 MPG with that set up. Before that I got about 15 MPG.
i bought all my exhaust pieces from www.truckperformance.com i got the high flow cat but they do sell the bassani y-pipe the offroad one is $262 the regular is $357 i dont know why the difference is so much though
Yup, the cheap one is not emissions capable. It does have the emissions bungs welded in place, but there is no catalytic convertor, which makes it 'for offroad use only'.

Mixed city and highway. Everything was stock except for a K&N drop in filter and BF Goodrich All Terrain 31's. I babied the accelerator pretty good and tried to keep the rpm's under 1500. It was tough but I was able to do it, except on the times when I wanted to hear the Flowmaster.

The bassani Y will bolt up to the stock manifolds with special "donut gaskets" available through bassani (do not come with the pipe, but are like $15).
