Here in the Kansas City area, I think the snow/ice line is just starting to get here. From what I here on TV, it looks like it's mainly ice, that's why they downgraded our snow to 2-5".
It started snowing pretty heavily here at about 8:00am, but now it's quit. But everything is covered with a good layer of ice, which started yesterday morning.
Nuthin but slush here in North O.P. I guess the snow isn't supposed to come to us until early AM tomorrow. So far, the thing has been a huge flop. Everytime I see a TV weather man, or woman, they are downgrading the "storm". Everything on my house is melting and running off, not even cold enough to make ice. As the "storm of the decade" as Mike Thompson called it on Thursday evening, it is a monumental and dismal failure....... up to this point.
This makes me mad!!! I was back in Shawnee yesterday, and I came back to school early, so I wouldn't have to worry bout the snow, I coulda spent another day at home, in my own bed!!! AHHHH
Yeah, I was in the truck driving, listening to the radio. Now they are saying a "possible" accumulation of 1 - 2 inches by tomorrow afternoon. It will be interesting to watch the weather tonight to see how they squirm out of this.
its a big conspiracy!! I think they just say stuff like this when area stores aren't making as much money as they would like to, so that everybody will freak out and stock up.
I can understand missing a forecast that started out being maybe, 6" of snow and only getting 2". I can't understand though, how out of all those weather people, it went from 18" when it was first mentioned, to now only a possibility of 2".
Look at kctv5.com Their banner is the "super" winter storm. Under that, their top story is, the "super" winter storm. Mike Thompson, (a local TV weather guy for you that don't see KC TV) said on thursday, that this was the "storm of the decade and possibly beyond". The lady on ch5, Katie Horner, said, "heavy snow fall amounts are guaranteed, this killer storm is bearing down on us and Kansas City is in the bullseye". These guys are a joke.
Yeah, I know, anyone can make a mistake. Maybe the front's or whatever moved in a direction they could not have predicted. However, I would much rather they say from the outset, that there is a possibility that this event could happen. Not that it is a guranteed killer storm of the decade that will dump a foot or more of snow. Bah humbug!
