Why add ATF?If the diesel fuel you have been using was not providing enough lube the fuel system would of ate itsself a long time ago. Stop the nonsense!!!

Why you ask?
The fuel dries out the O-rings in the injectors!
The ATF keeps them from drying and cracking!
Before using the ATF I had to replace the O-rings twice.
Since using ATF I've replaced O-rings ZERO times!!
ATF- $3.49
Stanadyne Performance Formula - $10.99

Fellas,
We have equipment at work that has tens of thousands of hours and/or hundreds of thousands of miles. This equipment gets nothing but straight #2 diesel fuel and has had no abnormal fuel system problems. Do you also add this in the dead of winter when its really really cold out?I would think that adding ATF when really cold out would help to thicken your fuel, thus giving you a tank full of slush.Fuel system additive to prevent fuel gelling I can understand. ATF - stop the nonsense!!!

In the winter i add an anti-gel....in the summer ATF.
At my work in the diesel forklifts they run ATF in the fuel all year round with no problems.
The crap you buy that is for this actually dries out the rings???
Is this a ploy?
Because brittle o-rings = $ to repair.

Off-Road Diesel??
You mean colored diesel?
You need a farm licence or Heavy equip certificate...

But don't get caught with it in your truck on or of the road!

GB,
Contact a local fuel supplier, farm supplier. Or just contact a "gas station" and ask then where you can purchase "Off Road Diesel". You'll probably have to get ahold of a manager to get the answer. Often they deliver in large quanities. Usually 300 gal. tanks or larger. But may offer a pump at their location and you can go in with a 5 gal. container and purchase as you choose. They may also ask questions at to its use.

I would think the smell of off road diesel would be terrible in a kerosene heater.

Kerosene will work in a diesel but you will have low power from it.

Jet A is great in a kerosene heater, no smell at all, but a little pricey at the airport.

Used to stop at a truck stop in Colorado that had #3 diesel in the summer. Great power but boy did it gell up easy.

In WVa off road fuel being used on the highway will cost you 10 dollars a gallon x tank capacity or 2000 dollars, which ever is greater. Off road fuel has no highway use tax paid on it, any more it is low sulphur fuel just like the highway use fuel is, so the only difference is the tax and the red dye.

Most truck stops have off road diesel for the reefer guys to run in their refridgerated trailers.

Yes, diesel mix will burn in a 'torpedo' style heater but makes everything reak and your eyes really burn-

Kerosene goes good in the tank in the winter to keep things moving...
