1996 Ford Explorer Shift Problem
I have a 96 Ford Explorer with an automatic transmission and the Transmission does not shift unless you let fully off the gas. The check engine light is on and it comes up in the computer as being the shift solenoid. Do you guys have any idea what is wrong with the transmission?

A '96 is computerized, there is no vacuum modulator. If the codes say shift solenoid, then you need to have the solenoid pack replaced. That is done by pulling the pan, so the labor charge should be reasonable.
