Okay I am asking for some help here.
I have a Toro Snowthrower that is about 4 yrs old. Bought it used.
After one use early this year the fuel shut off valve broke which I ordered and replaced yesterday.
Now it won't start either by electric start button or pull start.
Doesn't even act as if it wants to fire. I replaced spark plug and it is full of gas and all starting steps have been followed.
Any ideas or anyone else have a a bad expeience with Toro Snowthrower ???????? And I don't mean grinding up neighbors cat !!!!!
You may want to try lawnsite.com they have vast array of lawn workers, that also do snow throwers as well that may have your answer for small enigne problems. Just a thought in case you don't get the answers you need here.
Did Fresh Gas
New Plug
And the fuel line can't be kinked because of the way its is made.
It's pretty frustrating because it;s got to be something simple,
If the fuel shut off broke, you may have a severly flooded engine. Fuel bypassing the carb might be pooled in the engine.
Remove the plug, ground it against the engine somewhere away from the spark plug hole, and turn the engine over. If it's flooded, you'll know it. While you're at it, take a good look and make sure you actually have spark.
The other thing to do is change the oil and take note of the smell and volume.
Great, it's got a new plug but is there spark? Check that first. If it's got spark and the fuel lines etc seem to be in order, put a small splash of gas in the carb and try to start it. If it starts, runs a few seconds and dies, you need to track down a fuel system problem.
As for the line "Any ideas or anyone else have a a bad expeience with Toro Snowthrower ????????", the above is my idea; my Toro has started second pull each and everytime, regardless of temperature and even after sitting all summer long, and it's been like that since 1962. I'd buy another one like it if they were only available.
Thanks guys I'll have time to work on it Sunday. My previous Tor always ran great and started 2nd pull this one is larger and like new but is giving me fits right now.
Try taping the bottom of the bowl (sp). That worked for me this winter. I would also recommend stabilizer when you are done for the season. Running turn off the gas valve and run it out of gas also. Fill the tank full for less condensation, then pour in the recommended amount of stabilizer. This reminds me..... I have to do mine now that winter is over.
pull the line off the carb and see if you have fuel flowing out of the new valve. then try and lightly tap on the carb body and free the needle valve. my toro is 18 years old never had a problem other then a belt every few years. if you have spark. and gas from the hose its the needle valve stuck in the seat
