Have you checked the coil output? My 85 Bronc was doing something similiar turns out the switch on the bottom of the steering column wasn't engaging properly, and sometimes it would start and sometimes not. Most of the time it would'nt start when i was in a hurry to go some where!!Imagine that S*#T.

check the coil with a volt meter and make sure u have 12 volts to the coil with the key on and atleast 9 volts while cranking. if that checks out ok pull the wires of the cap and connect a test light to the positve side of the coil and touch the negetive side with the test light while a buddy cranks the engine over and make sure the test light blinks as he cranks it, that will make sure you are getting a signal from the module.

good luck

You might have burned up the solenoid also. You can also get a heavy solenoid to replace it if that the problem. Tom

My dad always told me to never leave the key on without the rig running or you would burn up the coil. Not sure if that is true but maybe??
