I HAVE A DURASPARK II IGNITION SYSTEM. THE OTHER NIGHT I LEFT MY KEY IN THE ON POSITION WHILE B.S. ING WITH A FRIEND,FOR ABOUT AN HOUR. NOW MY TRUCK WILL NOT START!!!!! I REPLACED THE IGNITION BOX ON THE FENDERWELL AND ALSO REPLACED THE DISTRIBUTOR! WHAT ELSE COULD IT BE. I HAVE ALSO CHECKED ALL OF THE SUPPLY WIRES AND EVERYTHING SEEMS TO BE FINE, BUT NO OR VERY LITTLE SPARK WHATSOEVER!!! AND THE TRUCK STILL WONT RUN IT JUST KEEPS TURNIG OVER AND NOR FIRING. ALSO CHECKED FUEL SUPPLY, PLENTY O FUEL!!!! CAN ANYONE HELP ME OUT HERE????
Have you checked the coil output? My 85 Bronc was doing something similiar turns out the switch on the bottom of the steering column wasn't engaging properly, and sometimes it would start and sometimes not. Most of the time it would'nt start when i was in a hurry to go some where!!Imagine that S*#T.
check the coil with a volt meter and make sure u have 12 volts to the coil with the key on and atleast 9 volts while cranking. if that checks out ok pull the wires of the cap and connect a test light to the positve side of the coil and touch the negetive side with the test light while a buddy cranks the engine over and make sure the test light blinks as he cranks it, that will make sure you are getting a signal from the module.
It did the same thing on my truck I left the key on while I was changing some vacuum hose and my hand touch the coil and it was very hot.I put the key in off position but it was to late my coil was burn.So it true that you can burn your coil!!
