Gear change
I want to change my gears, alot of shops want $1400.00 plus to do the job, i was thinking of doing it myself, i know its a tough job so i was wondering if i ordered a complete 3rd member , would that be easier to install? or should i have a shop do it? any help would be appreciated.

Yep, you're right. If you want to change both the front & rear gears, it will cost you about $1400. I bought new 4.10 gears, w/master overhaul kits, from Reider Racing for about $730. Then a local 4wd shop replaced the gears in both differentials for $700. Since they were changing the gears, I had a trac-loc LS added to the rear end, that was another $330 for the parts. Nothing more for the install since the work wasn't any different because they were already changing the gears. And, I paid about another $50 to have synthetic fluids in both differentials.
