I really appreciate all the help with my 02' F450. For some reason I can't get 1 response to my problem. Now I see others having their problems discussed, but when it comes to my problem I can't get JACK! WHAT THE ...... is going on? Since I'm a good sport I'll try one more time. This truck smokes horribly on start up and on accel. Will stop smoking at idle once engine is warmed up, but will still smoke on accel. In Houston it doesn't get that cold, so rule that out. Before I pull the injectors, I would like some feedback. How about this, PLEASE! Thanks
I agree Cookie, sounds like an o-ring has failed. Quad posted a response to a thread "Injectors." Bottom o-ring failure would dump excess fuel in the chamber. Possible cause of "white smoke." aka: aerated diesel
Alanscott also posted (same thread) how to replace the o-rings.
How many miles? Ford recommends having the injectors "flushed" by a machine every 30k, or so my dealer tells me. May be BS, I don't know. But if it is an o ring, you might have it done at the same time.
S. Before you go spending alot of money. Have you had the truck checked for codes yet? Another possibility is the CPS. My truck was running great one day then started pushing the "white smoke" out the tail pipe. It ran at idle but every now and then would smoke. Replaced the CPS and it never did it again. Start with the small stuff first then work your way up. It's cheaper. If it's not the CPS then you have a spare. They will fail at one time or another. Check for codes first. Hope you getter 'er going.
Also, once you get the valve covers off, make sure one of the harness isn't fried before you go snatching injectors. Also a good time to ohm out the glow plugs.
