grille removal

I want to take out my grille and I took the 4 screws on the top and it appears to have two clips on the bottom but I cant, for the life of me, figure out how to get the grille to free up.

I poked and prodded with a screwdriver but to no avail. Does it have to push up, down, do you get at it from the front of the grill or the back.

I just cant seem to get it.... HELP PLEASE

Pictures would be awesome but who'd think a person would need pictures to find out how a clip releases

thanks

With a long flat blade screwdriver, lift UP on the bottom part of the clip and pull that side of the grill out. Repeat for the other clip. Should come right off.

Don't forget that some models have 4 clips along the bottom.

Wait, is that an admission that I know too much about the grilles too?

THANKS MONSTA AND NOMO... It came off like a dream once I pulled my head out of my.... exhaust pipe. I'm not replacing the grill but I am going to cut a hole for the air intake and its easier this way.

BTW, I'm from northern mosquitosa, I mean, Minnesota, and am worried about those little getting into the air filter. Would a mesh screen that I can easily remove and clean off benefit or would that just restrict the airflow I seek

Thanks again guys...This is why FTE is the BEST

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 10-May-02 AT 07:36 AM (EST)]Did you have to pry up on the bottom of the
grill, and do the clips come off with the grill, or do they stay on the grill? I would like to take my grill off and put some lights on the grill,"Fog lights".
Thanks,

>Did you have to pry up on the bottom of the grill?

No, just the bottom part of the spring clip.

>and do the clips come off with the grill, or do they
>stay on the grill?

They stay on the grill. They can come off once you remove the grill but it is hard to do so. So don't worry too much about it.

>I would like to take my grill off and put some lights on the grill,"Fog lights".

I'd like to see pics of that when you're done!
________

slammer, there is a post below where that has been addressed. Put a screen in anyway during the summer. Keeps them critters out yer radiator. The only way that airflow will become seriously restricted is if you don't clean off the screen. I can't believe the stuff I've been collectin'!
