I finally sold my 97 f-150 4x4 and tomorrow i pick my new 02 f-250 crew cab 4x4 xlt v-10.
there are a few things on the truck i didn't want but seeing i did a dealer search, you only get what they can find.
1. i didn't want the elect shift on the fly due to post in here saying they are trouble.
2. the reverse sensing aid extra 225 bucks
3. chrome cab steps. i wanted stainless aftermarket.
4. the telescoping mirrors to wide!
other than that i love the truck. anyone want to add there 2 cents about the options i didn't want?
i hope i never have a prob with the elect shift 4x4!!!!!
Badford, where were you a couple days ago!!! I just bought a pair of those mirrors, We could of traded my little mouse ears for your telscoping mirrors!!
My hold up with getting mine at the time, was that I wouldn't take a truck with the ESF, took 3 weeks to find me one without it.
I didn't really want the ESOF or the wide mirrors either. I have had my truck for about 18 months now. 28,000 miles. I use the ESOF a lot. No problems with it and I like it now. I did not get the telescoping mirrors, but I wish I had them now. I suggest you drive it for a while before deciding to make any changes. You might discover that you like what you have. In any case, I feel sure that you will really enjoy the truck.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 16-May-02 AT 10:45 AM (EST)]esof.... have had that in my last four trucks and have yet to see any problems assoicated with it. i know a lot of guys complain about it, but like i said.... never a problem here (nor have i seen any problems on the trail with other rigs)... my days of hard core wheeling are gone..... but i have been rather abusive to most of my old trucks.... so it's not that i am gentle on the system either.
i think (and yeah guys... flame away on this one) that the whole esof/floor shifter debate is one of those i like it the old way and don't want to evolve type of arguements... sure, the floor shifter is probably slightly more robust... but it can break just as anything else can.
i am the perfect example of that hard head type of outlook when it comes to my bikes..... i ride old, decrepid, historical landmarks and you'll see me talking ##### up and down on the new stuff..... but wait til u see me on the side of the road cause my oldie but goodie couldn't hack the days heat, fell apart, or whatever... i'll be kicking myself that my ##### ain't new and improved. lol.
now as for them ttt mirrors.... dude.... they are the BEST thing u could ever have on your rig! i had them little ones when i started out and honestly, i think they look better, but once i tried them ttt mirrors, i was sold..... my blind spot has gone from huge, to non-existant!
if you or anyone that has them ttt mirrors and wants a set of the little ones, mine are up for grabs..... you may want to make a trade with one of these guys as that is probably the better deal.... but if someone has broken their's...
the reverse aid sensor seems pretty cool to me..... see if it grows on you?
the cab steps... GARBAGE..... take them off and make them into an industrial art piece that you can hang in your living room.... this should be the fate of ALL steps!!!
